A little adrift

VENICE THE ACUATIC CITY

Venice is an aquatic city locate in northeastern Italy, compose by a group of 117 small islands separate by canals and linke by bridges. nowadays, Venetians prefer to go away because the life is very expensive. If visiting is expensive, staying longer is even more so.
it's far cheaper to stay in nearby towns like Verona, Treviso, or Padova.
why venice? because , to my delight , I've visited this place more than 5 times. I remember that when Iwas child, I loved to visit  Piazza San Marco because it was always  full of pigeons and people can buy corn and be surrounded by them. Venice is the city of love, its atmosphere is,both, very romantic and chaotic at the same time. It’s very normal that venice is overrun by tourists. it’s one of the most famous city in the world. All people that visited Italy I’m sure, they want to visit this beautiful city.
with my friend on the Rialto Bridge

If you ask me what there is to see and do in the city, I have a long list of “must -see” sights and attractions. I can advise you some sites that they left me astounded as :St. Mark's Basilica, the Rialto Bridge, the Grand Canal,  St. Mark’s square and others touristics places. In the city, you must  see the Carnival it’s the most ancient and famous in the country. Also you'll travel in the “vaporetto” and you will see the ” gondola”; if you have much money, you can travel for some minutes( 35 minutes for 100 euro ) in this spellbinding transport.
If you ask what’s the Vaporetto?
Is a water bus that takes both locals and visitors to the places they want and need to go throughout Venice. Because traveling the canals is the easiest way to get around the city, the vaporetto have long been the most efficient and cost-effective modes of transportation, aside from walking.
Grand Canal

If you go there in Summer you can enjoy of a delicious ice-cream( my favourite flavour is the exquisite “Nocciola “ hazelnut) or a frozen (mint always for me) it’s perfect for the intense heat.

But, if lunch time arrives, I invite you to visit some overwhelming restaurants :
Alle Testiere Restaurant: Venice is well-known for its fish markets, and at Alle Testiere Restaurant, in the street " Mondo Novo", which is located near the St Mark’s Square, they use the fruits of the sea to create some lovely dishes in an intimate atmosphere. you must book ahead as it’s a small restaurant.
Antico Forno: If you’re looking for perfect pizza and pasta at a good price, this eatery near the Rialto Bridge hits the mark. Fresh food is served quickly by the restaurant’s friendly team  (they make the best pizza in Venice). The deep crust variety is highly recommended, as is the seafood spaghetti.

About the cultural activities that you can do here..mmm.. visit the theatre , the church, the school of venice, the museum.
Who don’t know the famous novels of Shakespare?
Venice has been the setting or chosen location of numerous films, novels, poems and other cultural references. Examples of these include Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice and Othello,
As I said the Carnivals are more important here I think it’s the most attractive activity of Venice ,You have probably heard about the charm of the Venice Carnival, but did you know that it is one of the most famous Carnivals in the world and most of all, it is probably one of the oldest Carnivals that has ever existed.I remember that all the times that I has visited Venice I came back with 3 or 5 masks , it’s majestic all mask designed, there are a very good elaboration.

Square st Mark
Finally I felt astounded at how beautiful is Venice, the city of love.. it’s perfect to visit with your couple or family, but I recommend you to take a lot of money with you because I’m sure that you will want to try all things , all meals, and buy many souvenirs of your trip in Venice..

  1. Hi, Brenda!
Venice? OMG! I know I heard about it, but I didn't pay too much attention to it, because it is far away from me. I mean, it is another country in another continent, of course.
But I'm so glad that I've read yours, because I really loved it. The way you have described, made me feel like if I was there. I know it's weird, but imagined myself in a gondolo, but I can't think in the price! Just going there by free! Hahaha then I realize that it was just a dream. I won't travel by free to Venice...
If one day I could get a chance to do it, I think I would have to have a lot of money!! :P

  5. Hi Brenda!
How are you? Well, as you know I’m here for the task we were assigned. I wanted to say that since I believe we are equals as students, I won’t be correcting you but rather giving you some suggestions :)
So, let’s get down to it… oh but before I do that, I wanted to add that I like your blog and specially this post because it has many nice pictures! And the way you talk about Venice shows that you really know this city. So, in my opinion, it makes the info you give trustworthy.
    Now my suggestions:
“Located in the northeastern Italy…” I guess here would be better to omit the article “the” and instead say: “LOCATED IN NORTHEASTERN ITALY…”
“Because for to my delight I visited this place most of 5 time…” I think another way to express this easily would be “BECAUSE, TO MY DELIGHT, I’VE VISITED THIS PLACE MORE THAN 5 TIMES…”
“In the city you must to see…” I think, in this case the preposition after “must” is not necessary.
“IN THE CITY, YOU MUST SEE…” or “IN THE CITY, YOU SHOULD SEE…”
“Venice it’s the city of love.. the atmosphere is most romantic and chaotic” Since you already mentioned “Venice”, I think isn’t necessary to make reference to it again afterwards (by using the pronoun ”it”) –unless you want to use literary speech like “ah Venice… it’s the city of love”. However, if you want my opinion, I guess another way of saying this could be “VENICE IS THE CITY OF LOVE, ITS ATMOSPHERE IS, BOTH, VERY ROMANTIC AND CHAOTIC AT THE SAME TIME”
“But if arrive the time of lunch I invite you to…” another way to express this could be “BUT, IF LUNCH TIME ARRIVES, I INVITE YOU TO…”
And finally, for I saw you wrote some suggestions in simple past.
“Cultural activities that we can do here...mmm… visited the theatre…”
instead: “CULTURAL ACTIVITIES THAT YOU CAN DO HERE…MMM… VISIT THE THEATRE…”
    “I recommended you to…”
    -“I RECOMMEND YOU TO…”

That’s it! Hopefully my suggestions are helpful.
    Have a nice weekend! :)
    Andrés.

  6. Hello there, I would like to give you some other ways to express little things you've said above: When you said 'I can advise you some sites that they let me astounded...' I would prefer saying this: 'I can advise you some sites that LEFT me astounded...' Well, this is something I noticed while reading your text. When we are talking about something that happened in the past, we should use more past tense. While reading your text, I feel like you mixed a lot of tenses in one only paragraph or sentence.

For example you said: 'When I was child I remember that I loved to visit Piazza San Marco because it’s always full of pigeons and people can buy corn and be surrounded by them.' I would say: 'I remember that when I was a child, I loved to visit Piazza San Marco because it WAS...'

Finally, in this part: '... which is within easy reach of St Mark’s Square...' I think a better expression for that would be this one: ‘... which is located near the St Mark's Square...’

And that's all, I think Andrés did a good job being specific with his advises. Hope it's useful!
